Retro Vintage Book Wallpaper

Inspired by this and other similar images of book page wall art or magazine page wall art  over the past few months we’ve done some of our own minor redecorating in the shop. And as you know we don’t mind a bit of re-purposing otherwise known as recycling. So when it came to wanting to put up a retro style wallpaper, we made our own.  It’s pretty rough and ready but that’s part of the charm.  We’d been given some old House and Garden, Women’s Weekly and New Idea magazines that date back to the 1950′s and so the Women’s Weekly June 7, 1954 edition became the ‘new’ wallpaper.

We’ve finished it off with some glowing words of inspiration & love

Pinterest Will Grab Your Interest

I love roaming through websites gleaning inspiration and ideas, often portrayed through imagery and it was while I was doing this that I noticed that several sites had the badge

that I didn’t recognize it beside the usual Facebook and Twitter icons and so like that proverbial cat, curiosity got the better of me and with a couple of clicks of the mouse I entered into the world of Pinterest.

Ok, so what is this “Pinterest” you ask? In the simplest and shortest possible explanation I can offer

  • Pinterest is a “virtual pin board” which enables its users (us) to find, grab and organise images that capture your imagination via any website or your own photo files.
  • It lets you create unlimited boards for as many topics, interests, dreams and inspirations that you might have -  Crafts, DIY projects, recipes, home decorating ideas, wish lists, wedding planners and oh so much more.
  • You can join up using your Facebook or Twitter accounts but I personally prefer to log in on my email address and keep my social media separate.
  • What really sets Pinterest apart from the others is that it’s INVITE ONLY.
  • If you would like an invite just send us the message “Invite me onto Pinterest” via email or Facebook and we will get your invitation out asap. (Make sure you give us your email though.)
  • Warning:  Pinterest is addictive and you will find yourself completely absorbed creating visual boards for all of your favorite topics and interest, its never ending.

Shave for a Cure

Go Dem, I would like to congratulate my daughter Demi-leigh who participated this year in the Leukaemia Foundation “Shave for A Cure” cause.

Her goal to raise $1000 was achieved & surpassed.
Dem we’re all very proud of your determination & hard work and I would especially like to  thank all her supporters who not only sponsored her but have been positive about her new “look”. I can’t imagine what heartache  those who have no choice go through  about losing their hair as it is our identity, our personality – it is often who we are.
Pray that the funds raised by ALL participants bring a much needed cures & treatment.
