We all love pouring over our favourite home and garden magazines, watching DIY home and life style shows  on how we can improve the look, the layout or just the feel of a room/s in our very own home.  Some of us may even go to the extent of engaging the services of an interior decorator or designer but how much would you be prepared to pay someone for that service???   This was a question raised by Jenny – an interior decorator in the States who stumbled across a story in the New York Times

I am having lounge / dining room envy – but then I do have 3 kids, a husband and 2 puppies and it would never look this perfect :->

The designer in question donated her time in lieu of the article and potential exposure but estimated that the cost of this particular job would have been  $10,000 (and by the way that’s in US$$).  I do love the eclectic mix of colors, fabrics and furniture but I definitely think that the  decorating fee was/would have been a bit steep.  Keep in mind too that the “fee”  excluded any new additions by way of furniture, cushions etc. What do you think - fair and reasonable or OTT  ????
