There's a lot of talk around town at the moment about Ryn & Cordie, the passionate, wine loving Brisbane based authors of
"In Search of the Perfect Partner
(The Food & Wine Matching Formula)”

In Search of the Perfect Partner

They are being tagged as "the next big thing" by Latte Magazine and are about to be featured in several popular magazines across the country including Appetite Magazine and Better Homes & Gardens, so you can understand why we are so excited!  Not only are we retail stockists for their book, but they are going to make their FIRST in-store appearance at HOME SAVVY. Yes that's right – not only can you purchase their book for yourself, friend, hubby, work colleague or family member but you can also meet these bubbly ladies, ask questions and have them sign the book too – what a great gift idea for any occasion and for all ages 18+

Why not make a night of it??? Come along to our Sip n Sign event then, may I suggest – make a reservation for dinner at
The Odd Couple Restaurant on 3355 3113, which is just around the corner on Trouts Road.

Wow What a Kitchen

House Beautiful (USA) announced their kitchen of the Year and what a beauty it is – designed by Jeff Lewis it took over 6 months to create. You see images of kitchens in all the glossy magazines and a majority of them look good but are often over the top in design, heavily accessorized and are not necessarily workable areas. By looking and studying these images I really feel that this kitchen fits the bill in all aspects – floor plan , cupboard space and material combinations.

House Beautiul Kitchen of the Year 2010

Plants in my opinion always soften the look of any room and are an affordable accessory that can fit into all budgets (cuttings are a great way to start especially with succulents). Notice the tray of white jugs and rounded bowls on the back bench, I just love the simplicity of white crockery.

Open shelves are great to show case special pieces or to put those items that are most in demand on a daily basis – like the plates, bowls, baskets and the super essential item – wine glasses.  This kitchen has the open shelves and cupboards placed alternately which keeps the feel of the room open & spacious.

Did you notice the height of the dining room table?? Same level as the benches – great idea and easy on the eye.

Now this is the part I simply fell in love with …. take a look at the far end of this room. A wine storage unit that also acts as a divider between the kitchen and lounge areas. It still has that open plan  feeling to it, it allows vision and light into each room while at the same time separating the two areas. The combinations of wood, glass, light and natural greenery give this kitchen a truly relaxed and comfortable ambience.

Our latest pieces in fashion by Jersey Girl Netting & Embroidery – Modern Vintage don't you think?

Notice the detail along the lower half of the Tunic Top (middle) & the Dress at the rear.  The Dress is available in two colourways  Black on Cream (as pictured here) and Black on Black.

I simply fell in love with these Indian Silver stands with Glass covers. We are displaying and containing our scented soy melts in them but they're also a great way to display other  trinkets & knick knacks like  Baby shoes, your first ballet slippers, assortment of shells & corals, jewellery or even a vintage book. Anything that you would normally put in a cabinet put it in the dome and place it on a side board at the front door, on the the coffee table, in the kitchen ……….

Liquid Chalk Pen Fun

Posted in Create, Home & Living, Home Hints on July 15th, 2010 by HS

Now heres's something novel that I simply love and I'm sure alot of you will too  ………………..Liquid Chalk Pens

Not just for teachers to use but every household needs at least 2 – one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom . Its a great way to communicate with the family – especially if you tend to be like ships that pass in the night and rarely see each other. Write shopping lists, jobs to do  lists (the kids love those ones – not ) general messages and even love notes.  Use on any "non porous" surface like glass, mirrors, stainless steel and chalk boards.

At  my daughters 18th and the guests were invited to write birthday messages and wishes on the sliding doors, well I have to say that the Liquid Chalk Pens were a huge success (with the Chocolate Fountain a close second)  as you can see there was a bit of window cleaning to do in the preceeding days but it was great entertainment not only for the guests but I have to say I truly enjoyed watching them ( I know, I'm a little strange)

The kids, hubby and/or wife can't use the excuse of " I didn't see the note you left on the ….. "  The liquid chalk pens are available in really bright colours – pink, yellow, orange, green, purple and white ( that I have seen so far) and my preferences are for the yellow and pink .

Easy to clean off,  just simply use a dry rag or paper towel -  magnificent.

You can find these fabulous Liquid Chalk Pens at most newsagencys and they range in price from $4.85 (at the Newsagency next door to us here at HOME SAVVY) up to $9.00 each.
