Resort Living in Brisbane

Posted in Brisbane, Home & Living, Place of Interest on September 8th, 2010 by HS

I simply love homes and am forever browsing through home magazines,  real estate brochures, newspapers and the internet. They're  a wealth of inspiration and desire and I just never know what I might stumble across.  Well,  I discovered this simply unbelievable & amazing home and just had to share it with you

Architectually designed, by Tony Smyth and built 5 years ago in Mc Dowall (a great suburb just 8klms out of the CBD) you can be forgiven for thinking that this magnificent home was a resort. Can you honestly say that you've seen many homes where the entertaining deck overlooks 2 swimming pools ?? Yes that's right 2 swimming pools – one for laps and the other for a little R n R. But then have I mentioned the indoor water feature – WOW.

To access this wonderful oasis, you travel down a private street and enter via the timber gates and over the bridge – which takes you over the natural water course of the land – and if you think keeping up the water to the landscaped garden and water features is going to be a problem, think again.  This home has 22,500 litres of water tank storage. With just too many features to go on about I'll let the pictures do the talking

First Impressions count and this is impressive

Do a few laps and then relax and/or entertain on the deck – Champers anyone???

Great outlook over the lap pool  and gardens from the formal dining area

Kitchen is open, airy and full of natural light.

The tranquil sound of water in-doors, another amazing feature of this home

For such a big and open home, and I do mean BIG, it has a wonderful relaxing ambience about it . And if you simply fell in love with this magnificent property – it could be yours as it is on the market with SPACE Property

ACT 4 Kids -URGENTLY Need Your help

Posted in ACT4Kids, Charity, Gifting Occasion on September 8th, 2010 by HS

Child abuse is a huge problem in Australia with over 55,000 confirmed cases in 2008-09 – that’s one child being confirmed as an abuse victim every 10 minutes.  The Channel Seven / ACT for Kids appeal is now on, aiming to raise $500,000 which is how much it costs to provide professional therapy to help another 100 children affected by abuse. Unfortunately, donations are REALLY slow and they’ve only managed to raise enough to help 12 kids so far.

Please don’t turn your back, help us face up to child abuse by either making a donation at www.actforkids.com.au

or by  calling 1300 228 000 and PLEASE forward this message to your friends and contacts.

You might also like to follow this link to youtube to see the charity’s television commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYrS45PgAnc

Extract from email for an urgent cry for help:

Dressed or Undressed??

Posted in Create, Home & Living, Home Hints on September 3rd, 2010 by HS

Hollywood Glamour in Brisbane??? WHY NOT?? and doesn't it look simply fabulous daarrling !!!!

When on the hunt for a new home or apartment  it's great to see them complete with furniture.

Why???

  • Spacial  awareness – gives you a better understanding of size
  • Seeing furniture in the potenital abode can indicate a standard comfort standard – will you have enough space to stretch out and relax once all of your loved furniture is in there?-*  Will you be able to walk thru and around in a area without bumping, kicking or knocking yourself about??
  • Gives you a different perspective on how to arrange your furniture once you move in, you may love how it set up or you may not but it's one aspect that you have already seen

Above is the UNDRESSED room : this area is 6.1m x 3.9m and it's not particularly inspiring and looks very bland. Don't get me wrong I love white but  i simply fell in love with the dressed version.  What about you, what do you think???

Below DRESSED: and what a difference it makes.

This unit at East Brisbane was home staged by Castle Hire @ Stafford
Home Staging is extremely popular and more common place as a standard process when a home gets put onto the real estate market. Due to many popular television shows like Hot Property,  The Block, Better Homes and Gardens and many real estate agents highly recommend it.

The Right Twist

Posted in Home & Living, Home Hints, kitchen on September 1st, 2010 by HS

This is so simple and logical that I almost feel ridiculous for posting this tip BUT  I didn't know this so I figure that maybe there are others who didn't know that there is a correct way to grind *Salt and Pepper mills

When dispensing your Salt or Pepper  from a grinder, it is best to twist the grinder in one direction, and this for most grinders is generally clockwise.

Why?? from my research ( yes research) I discovered that by twisting in a clockwise direction it allows the chamber of the grinder to be filled correctly before the grinding process takes place and avoids the risks of clogging.

Also avoid milling / grinding directly over your dish whilst it is cooking as the steam can dampen the salt and/or pepper and this can lead to clogging of the mechanisms of your Grinders

Happy grinding folks and if you have any tips you think are worth sharing, let us know
