And that’s exactly what’s been happening here in Brisbane.
Friends, neighbors and strangers are all pitching in to help out in any way that they can.
Brisbane’s Lord Mayor Campbell Newmans’ pre-election catch cry from a few years back ” CAN DO” is very apt for all Brisbane residents at this time. Not only are those affected directly by the floods accepting help they are moving on to help others in need before themselves. What amazing spirit, camaraderie and great mateship.
I have been listening intently to the radio and have picked up a few tips, we may not need to use this information now but its handy to have for immediate use or future (hopefully not) events.

A couple of helpful tips that I’ve heard over the past 48 hours
No Power?? Car Chargers for mobile phones and other items
Medications – ensure they are on hand ready to go in a waterproof bag
Insurance papers, birth Certificates, Passports etc keep in plastic ziplock folders in a secure but accessible location in case of emergency evacuations.
Freeze any excess milk / bread you may have especially with potential supply issues
