HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY HOME SAVVY

Posted in Birthday, Create, In Store Event, Special Occasion on May 31st, 2011 by admin

This week is our 8th Birthday and we are left asking ourselves, where has the time gone?  In commemoration of our progression so far, we have decided to take a little trip down memory lane.

HOME SAVVY’s simple beginnings originated in October 2001 as a home and gift ware party plan business. This went so well that we opened the doors on our first boutique at 625 Stafford Rd, Stafford

What had to be tackled first up….. Is it really the same place??

As you can see the previous tenant certainly didn’t tidy up before departing, they even left dirty dishes in the sink.  Once the clean up was done, the place looked like a million dollars and the doors of the HOME SAVVY boutique opened on 31st May 2003.   By January 2005, we had outgrown the 35 sqm and were bulging at the seams so moved just a few doors along to our bigger and current location at 613 Stafford Rd.

HOME SAVVY circa 2005

Then in late 2008 we had a little make over :

Over the past 8 years we have met so many wonderful people many of whom have become not only clients but friends. You  have shared good and bad days / times  (mostly good)  and we have watched many a baby grow into lovely energetic young people.   You have also shown us appreciation for our efforts in; our attention to detail, the range of products that we present,  our support of the local community and charities and our customer service, by nominating HOME SAVVY for local and state recognition.  We were winners of the  Quest Business Achievers Awards  in 2003 and 2006 and finalists every other year and runners up in the Queensland Government Business Awards in 2006. Thank You

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY HOME SAVVY- come on in for our great birthday specials - valid till Saturday 4th June 2011…. and have some of our birthday cake & biscuits while they last….

What was old is new again

Posted in Babies & Kids, Gift, Gifting Occasion on May 30th, 2011 by admin

Lets face it we are all kids at heart and there are some things that bring our childhood memories flooding back with affection.  These toys did it for me..

Do you remember playing marbles in the dirt of the school yard and either walking away with what you saw as the most beautiful jewel in a marble players crown or walking away in complete despair at having lost the pride of your collection?  I do, but for the life of me can not remember the rules of marbles.

Check out these beautifully boxed toys we have in store, they come with instructions; to remind those with fading memories.

Work The Strings
Knots to Know
Marbles
Juggling Balls

I bought a set of each and took them home to my boys and they jumped on them instantly and started playing, they forgot TV and played for ages.  Ahh remember when…..

Yummy Chocolate Brownie Recipe

Posted in Recipes on May 27th, 2011 by admin

I have just made this fabulous recipe for about the 10th time this year and taken it to my friends for desert, it was a resounding success again.  I must say it is best served warm with a scoop of ice cream or cream and dusted with icing sugar, but cold is good too (my children love it in their lunch).

Choc Caramel Brownie

375g dark chocolate melts
200g Butter, chopped
3/4 cup caster sugar
3 eggs
2 cups plain flour
380g can Top’n'fill caramel
1/2 cup white chocolate bits (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a 4.5cm deep 21cm x 31cm baking pan.  Line pan with baking paper.
2. Place dark choc melts and butter in a saucepan and melt on a medium heat stirring regularly, until smooth.
3. Stir caster sugar into chocolate mixture.  Stand for 5 minutes.  Add eggs, 1 at a time, stirring after each addition. Stir in flour.  Fold through top’n'fill caramel (and white choc bits).  Spread mixture into prepared pan.  Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a skewer inserted in centre comes out with crumbs clinging. Set aside in pan to cool. For a different presentation use a cookie cutter to cut into hearts or stars.  Serve warm or cold dusted with icing sugar or with ice cream or cream on the side.  Cheers Linda

Jewellery Storage

Posted in Gift, Gifting Occasion, Home & Living, Home Accessories, Home Hints, Jewellery on May 17th, 2011 by admin

I had a conundrum… I decided to re-arrange my bedroom and realised that my extensive jewellery collection extended far beyond the tiny jewellery box that it currently called home. I stumbled across pieces of jewellery that I hadn’t worn in months, simply because it was the unlucky piece that fell to the bottom of my unorganised pit. I was determined to come across something new and interesting – a new home for my obvious obsession.

So I went out in search of something not only efficient, but effective too.  That was when I discovered these vintage mannequins!

I threw all my necklaces around the neck, attached my bracelets up the stem and even added a scarf and broach for decoration!

Now not only does all my jewellery have its own spot, but it looks great too. I can even use it to plan the accessories I want to wear with each outfit. Never again will my jewellery become a tangled mess, out with the old and in with the new!  Bianca
