Keep Calm and Carry On – 12 Months On

Posted in Brisbane, Brisbane Floods 2011 on January 9th, 2012 by HS

Remember this photo 12 months ago of our Raelene and her daughter Nikki.
Fact: This image went global -  wow!!
Like many Raelene has faced many trials and tribulations and had her ups and downs (as you imagine one would after having lost so much), worked hard and the house is almost back to normal.
The Courier Mail  has followed up on her and many others that had & still have been affected by those devastating waters and as you can see she’s still smiling thru her adversity and carrying on.

What is this?????

The alien looking thing in the photo is a climbing frame and the kids can do heaps of things on it. During the school holidays I was wandering through Southbank with my boys and came across this great new playground at the Ship Inn end of the park lands. We spent a great couple of hours playing here and watching all the other kids,  it was a huge hit for all the ages.

The other new age activities there are:

  • a different type of slippery slide, using stainless steel pipes coming out of a bright yellow man made hill
  • a big disk swing
  • groovy use of mirrors
  • a huge spinning stainless steel bowl in a big sand pit
  • megaphone pipes
  • pathways to follow

The biggest thing and one of the oldest activities you can get for kids was the climbing tree.    Well done Southbank.

Stafford treasure – bite my biscuit

Posted in Birthday, Brisbane, Place of Interest, Stafford & Nearby 4053 on June 6th, 2011 by Linda

Stafford and the surrounding suburbs are often under-rated, underestimated and don’t top the list of locations in Brisbane that are ‘hip-n-happening’.  This area boasts great places to go: neat cafes and/or restaurants, gift and specialty shops (HOME SAVVY being one of them of course, but you already know we’re a treasure) and other places of interest. We want to share with you, some truly fabulous little gems that we know of and hopefully encourage you to try them out for yourself.

We will keep a look out for more and would love to hear about your own special finds in the area.

This lovely little cafe bakes delicious biscuits daily and serves organic Bundaberg coffee, Yummmmm on both counts.  As part of our 8th birthday celebrations we made sure we had a good supply of  bite my biscuit delicious treats to hand out to our birthday guests.  Those who sampled them, loved them and some even went straight round to bite my biscuit premises for coffee and more, that’s how good they are.

TIP: when you have some delicious treats – put them into a fancy urn / jar and add a tag & ribbon for your next morning tea or event, theywill look simply stunning.
