Keep Calm in the Kitchen

I thought I would share the latest edition to my kitchen.

A thin metal wall plaque – approx 80cm H x 25cm W and presumably to stand upright but I thought I’d go a different angle and place it horizontally on the ledge over the range hood.  As you can see the range hood serves as a shelf for knick knacks too &  is topped with some Christmas cheer at this time of year.

Jewellery Storage

Posted in Gift, Gifting Occasion, Home & Living, Home Accessories, Home Hints, Jewellery on May 17th, 2011 by HS

I had a conundrum… I decided to re-arrange my bedroom and realised that my extensive jewellery collection extended far beyond the tiny jewellery box that it currently called home. I stumbled across pieces of jewellery that I hadn’t worn in months, simply because it was the unlucky piece that fell to the bottom of my unorganised pit. I was determined to come across something new and interesting – a new home for my obvious obsession.

So I went out in search of something not only efficient, but effective too.  That was when I discovered these vintage mannequins!

I threw all my necklaces around the neck, attached my bracelets up the stem and even added a scarf and broach for decoration!

Now not only does all my jewellery have its own spot, but it looks great too. I can even use it to plan the accessories I want to wear with each outfit. Never again will my jewellery become a tangled mess, out with the old and in with the new!  Bianca

Chosen View – A Bygone Era

Posted in Brisbane, Place of Interest on August 5th, 2010 by HS

Tuesday I finally got into  the city to visit the  Museum of Brisbane  where they're showcasing a wonderful collection of Glass Slide images of daily life and activities taken by Alfred Henry Elliot, a Brisbane resident and photograher. The collection is called Chosen View.  The glass slides were discovered in 1983 under a house in Red HIll neatly packed in cigar boxes.

There were some images of  the voting / polling booths back in 1899.  Considering are elections are the hot topic of the day I thought it very appropriate to put this image first.

Some of  Brisbane's more well known landmarks

And just a little closer to home, the Enoggera Reservoir

There are so many more images to view, but I don't want to spoil it by showing them all to you, it's definitely worth the visit into the Museum of Brisbane at 157 Ann Street, open Monday – Friday, 10.00 am – 5pm
